Kaitlyn Shelley

Kaitlyn is a third-year medical student at Chicago Medical School. Originally from rural Idaho, she witnessed the negative impact that limited substance use education and harm reduction resources can have on a community, inspiring her passion for prevention and advocacy. She has been involved with the GPF Foundation since 2024, initially drawn to its mission through opportunities to provide harm reduction education throughout Chicago. Since joining as a fellow, Kaitlyn has contributed to the Foundation's research initiatives, including assisting with the publication of a paper, and is currently working on a screening tool to identify substance users at increased risk for adverse outcomes. Through GPFF, Kaitlyn has combined her passion for harm reduction with her interest in emergency medicine. As a Junior Associate Board member, Kaitlyn is excited to continue supporting GPFF's mission and expanding its impact within the community.
